Change is Coming

Hello, and welcome to 2025! January is shaping up to be a very busy start to the year. In years past, January has been a more relaxed pace, like a bear waking from hibernation, taking a deep long stretch, and wandering around, taking in its surroundings. January 2025 is different. Based on what my clients are signaling, people are not strolling into the new year. They are getting ready for what lies ahead. Here are two ways my clients are getting ready to take on the new year.

Alignment on Purpose and Goals

My clients are asking me to help them start their year by making sure their staff is aligned on team purpose and goals. Teams are making sure everyone agrees on the work that is being performed, the usefulness of that work, and how that work contributes to a greater purpose. Teams are committed to being flexible with any change that may come while still adhering to the fundamentals that make up the foundation of the work they are doing to impact their communities, their sectors, and the world.

Reaffirmed Commitment to the Most Impacted

Change has the ability to create winners and losers. My clients are using the time in January to reflect on who may lose as we all ride the waves of change, and how to mitigate those losses in their industries. This is a proactive and forward looking stance that I am proud of my clients for tackling. How do we do this work if our funding is cut? How do we continue our progress if our workforce looks different? How do we position ourselves to ride the waves of change to shore rather than be crushed under its powerful weight? These are questions my clients are answering now so that they will be prepared in the future.
