Hack4Colorado

Last weekend, MCG was able to sponsor a great event called Hack4CO. In celebration of the National Civic Day of Hacking, developers, designers, nerds, geeks, and wannabes like the MCG staff get together for the weekend and develop applications that benefit the common good. This year, we had pitches from non-profits like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Clinica Tepeyac. Teams were formed to use tech to solve non-profit and civic problems. I invite you to take a look at the ideas here.

It’s so inspiring to see what innovative ideas can come out of 48 hours and smart people pooling their brain power to make communities better. I’m glad MCG wasn’t a judge because all of the projects were fantastic! Special congratulations to all of the winners (Happy Gov & Move My Music)! . I invite you all to check out civic hacking in your city. And if your city doesn’t have a civic day of hacking, organize one! Because there are tech minded people who are looking to create technology for the good of all!

Special thanks also to Ann Spoor from Talent Lattice for organizing a great event! There’s a lot of hard work behind the scenes and Ann made it all come together with awesome prizes and great food! Thanks, Ann!
