Equal Pay for Equal Work

April 8 was Equal Pay Day at the State Capitol. 9 to 5 Colorado and the Women’s Foundation highlighted the gap in pay among women and people of color. Currently, women earn $0.77 for every dollar made by a man. It’s important to bring awareness to the issue. But, what can you do to close the gap?

  • Be an ally – If you’re a man, lend your voice to the discussion and demand that women receive equal pay for equal work.
  • Speak up – Don’t let other people dictate your value! Make your voice heard and demonstrate your value to your employer. Then ask that you receive the same pay as a man who performs the same work duties.

When men and women are valued the same in their pay, it only strengthens our economy and our competitiveness among other countries.
